ALL-TERRAIN (ATV) OPERATOR COURSE
This 7 hour course is separated into classroom and practical training.
The ATV Operator Course encompasses the following items:
·
Safe riding practices
·
Pre-ride inspection and documentation
·
Personal Protective Equipment
·
Specifications of ATV - i.e: towing, tires,
controls, etc.
·
Turning basics, sharp turns, quick turns
·
Stopping
·
Vehicle weight control
·
Traversing
The participants will have an awareness of all the basic topics and use of
the owner’s manual for the safe operation of an ATV. Each participant will be
required to have the following for class:
1) ATV - one that is used during employment
2) Personal Protective Equipment:
a) Approved helmet
b) Gloves
c) Safety boots (above ankle)
d) Safety goggles
3) Owners Manual for ATV used during employment
Operators are evaluated by written exam and practical skill level exercises.
This course is intended to inform and improve operator skill levels and does not
certify operators as highly skilled nor licensed operators. A training course
certificate, describing the specific machine trained on, will be awarded upon
successful completion of this program.
