This 15 hour comprehensive course provides a level of first aid training as
required by the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Legislation for medium
and high risk occupations or workplace environments such as but not limited
to construction, processing, manufacturing, oilfield and forestry industries.
First Aid topics covered include emergency scene management and secondary
survey, shock/unconsciousness/fainting, choking (adult), cardiovascular
emergencies and one-rescuer and two-rescuer CPR (adult), severe bleeding and
wound care, medical conditions (diabetes, seizures, asthma and allergies), bone
and joint injuries, head/spinal and pelvic injuries, chest injuries, eye
injuries, burns, poisons/bites and stings, environmental (heat and cold)
injuries, and participants will also be trained on the use of AED’s (Automated
External Defibrillation).
St John Ambulance National Certification valid for three (3) years is awarded
upon successful completion of this course.
