MOBILE EQUIPMENT SAFETY TRAINING

This training program system was developed to facilitate any company’s specific mobile equipment safety training requirements regardless of the type, make, model or application of the mobile equipment. The system enables safety training to be specific to only the applicable mobile equipment used by an organization.

The purpose of this safety training program is to educate mobile equipment operators on the rules, legislation and proper application of safe work practices and operating procedures involved in day-to-day activities. This program is designed for individuals who have a basic understanding of, or who are operating, mobile equipment.

Upon successful completion of this course the operator will:

·        be able to explain the handling characteristics of their mobile equipment

·        be able to explain stability and center of gravity of their mobile equipment

·        be able to understand and apply load rating charts in relation to loads lifted or carried

·        be able to explain limitations of the mobile equipment

·        be able to perform pre-use inspections of the mobile equipment

·        be able to explain the importance of maintaining up-do-date maintenance records, and why proper maintenance is vital for safe, efficient and productive operation

·        be able to identify the components and controls and their purpose as well as demonstrate their proper function

·        be able to describe safeguarding of work areas and hazard control measures

·        be able to explain applicable OH&S Legislation regarding their mobile equipment

Operators are evaluated by a written competency exam and practical skills demonstration. This course is intended to educate and improve operator understanding and skills and does not certify operators as highly skilled nor licensed operators. A training course certificate, describing the specific mobile equipment, will be awarded upon successful completion of this program.
