PROMOTION OF WORKPLACE HEALTH & SAFETY HAS LETHBRIDGE RANKED #1 AGAIN
In 2009 Lethbridge
was the first Alberta community to host a Steps For Life walk.
Last year around 150 walkers raised more than $7,000 for the Threads of
Life, an association for workplace tragedy family support services.
Exceeding all goals and expectations
for 2010, Lethbridge's held its 2nd Annual
fundraising walk Sat. May 1st at
Henderson Lake and now can boast the
highest registered walker count, out of 28 communities across Canada,
with over 350 taking part in the local event.
The 2010 Steps for Life fundraiser had hoped on
a realistic $10,000 campaign but thanks to the walkers, donators,
sponsors and volunteers a further $12,500 was pledged, for
an impressive grand total of over $22,500
which will help victims of workplace fatalities, occupational disease
and life-altering injuries.
Organizers and volunteers, which include Southern Safety and the
Southern Alberta NAOSH committee, are extremely proud of the commitment
shown by local companies and individuals who took part in the Steps for
Life walk held as a "kick off" to the NAOSH Week of May 2-8/10.
Thank you everyone for your involvement.
